Black Bean Burgers

INGREDIENTS:

1 can black beans (14.5ounces)
1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs (or crushed crackers)
1/8 cup grated onion (or 1 tablespoon dehydrated onion)
1/2 egg (crack and mix up and pour out about half)
salt & pepper (to taste)

DIRECTIONS:

Drain, but do not rinse beans. Pour in a bowl and mash them. Keep some whole beans visible. Add bread crumbs, onion, egg, and any seasonings. Stir until combined. Let sit for five minutes

Heat greased skillet over medium heat. Form bean mixture into patties & place on skillet. Cook on each side about 5minutes.

MAKES: 4 burgers

Tips & Tricks:

*Use 14-15 saltines in place of bread crumbs. The bread crumbs are being used to soak up the moisture from the beans and eggs.
*Place a slice of cheese on each burger after you flip them the first time so it will melt before serving.
*Serve with carrot fries or potato wedges.
*Use any seasonings to spice up your patty, some recommended are: garlic, chili powder, BBQ sauce, etc.
